4 ways to maintain high gloss furniture

High gloss furniture is stylish, practical and appealing. One great advantage is that it’s so easy to clean, making it ideal for the dining room, living room and other high traffic areas. In other words, perfect for family get-togethers and festive dinner parties. Spill any food or drink on your high gloss indoor furniture? No problem-o.

Here is a helpful guide on how to keep high gloss home furniture looking shiny and pristine. But first, let’s look at why it’s so great.

All that glistens

An added bonus to having high gloss furniture is how much it reflects light, adding a sense of space and brightening up your home. Our lovely high gloss white Alexandra square dining table, also available in an Extending Dining Table version, is great for its cleanability and easy maintenance, and would look beautiful with high gloss cabinets.

Once you have selected high gloss furniture, here’s how to keep it looking spic and span.

1 Use a feather duster or microfiber cloth to remove day to day dust

As with any slick shiny surface, dust will show, so a lil light swipe with a feather duster (minimal elbow grease involved) keeps any dust at bay. And/or wipe regularly with a microfibre cloth. Microfibre cloths are like magic, they gently pick up all dust particles without any scratches or harm done to your home furniture. Little and often is key to keeping it looking nice and clean.

When dining and setting a table, add table mats. Apart from making your guests feel welcome with your fab setting, this will also assist in avoiding fine scratches.

2 Get the gloss: Use a soapy sponge to remove any stains and spills

Fingerprints will glide right off of a high gloss surface with a little help from a soapy sponge and a diluted mild solution of washing up liquid. Buff away with your dry microfiber cloth, leaving it glimmering and mark free. Stand back and admire.

3 Wipe up food or drink spillages immediately

Soak up any spills immediately before they dry in, for the smoothest cleaning experience, saving you a lil extra time later and to avoid staining.

4 Stay away from harsh chemicals

Do not use any harsh chemical cleaners or solutions, such as furniture polish or glass cleaner, as they will damage the gloss surface.
