Our favourite furniture for six people or less

On the 29th of March it will be possible for up to six people from two different households to gather in a private garden setting, which means outdoor dining and garden lounging with family and friends is permitted! This may mean it’s time to revamp your garden area with some stylish new furniture to enjoy with your loved ones, and this is our guide for just that.

Outdoor Dining

If you’re the type of person who enjoys cooking for others, and you’re looking to update your outdoor dining experience, then read on. As the warmer months approach, so do sunny barbeques and Spring salads, perhaps to be enjoyed over a bottle of wine whilst catching up with your friends and family around the perfect garden dining table.

The Montreux Dining Set seats up to six and inspires a fun and inviting experience for you and your loved ones. Its mid-century design features soft curvature and clean lines, with a contemporary feel and natural aesthetic. Enjoy sharing Spanish tapas or an at-home picnic using the spacious oval table – measuring 190cm in length. This set is the perfect choice if you are particularly environmentally conscious, as it is created using 100% virgin polypropylene and is free from harmful chemicals. For this reason, the chairs can be recycled without any damage to the environment. The organic shape and removable cushions are designed to offer comfort and the materials used ensure durability and are hard wearing in all types of weather. The overall Montreux style feels necessarily stripped back and relaxed, throwing a modern twist on a traditional design.

If you have a smaller space but still want to refresh your outdoor social/dining area, the Portals Outdoor Bar Set will achieve just that. Its sleek and modern design will introduce into your garden a home-away-from-home feel with its Mediterranean bar aesthetic. Enjoy an outdoor brunch or an evening aperitif on its comfortable, sunlight resistant cushioned seats. This set is created using hardwearing aluminium and sustainably sourced Indonesian teak (a tropical hardwood tree species), so it’s environmentally friendly and beautifully stylish at the same time. This particular sized dining set comes with a low bar table and chairs, making the most of any garden size.

It might be possible that you already have a dining set but are in need of some extra chairs to accommodate your guests, or perhaps your table is in good condition, but your outdoor dining chairs need updating. If so, we offer the Havana set of 4 (and set of 2), which are made up of an innovative lightweight aluminium structure. Their sturdy build is long-lasting, and they are easily stackable to stow away when not being used. We recommend the Havana set if you are looking for low maintenance and comfort as they use a flexible textilene fabric, meaning they’re UV resistant and clean easily. Because of their square shape and linear design, we suggest pairing them with a square or rectangular table of similar style.

Garden Lounging

If an outdoor dining area isn’t quite comfortable and casual enough for you, you may be interested in something a bit plusher and more relaxing, like a garden lounge set. Soon to come are the days of sipping on an ice-cold drink in the warm weather, socialising with friends or perhaps just enjoying having your garden to yourself, bathing in the sunshine with a book or even having a little siesta! The following are our favourite lounge sets that are appropriate for sharing with others when the lockdown rules begin to relax.

The Chesterton Corner Set is spacious, low maintenance, and sophisticated. Its rattan structure means it durable and easy to keep clean, and it comes with chunky anti-fade cushions. The set comes with a coffee table, which completes the design and looks sophisticated with a tempered glass top. The Chesterton grey set has a modern aesthetic, but its sleek appearance makes it feel timeless and means it is suitable for a variety of furniture tastes.

The Delano, much like the Chesterton, seats 5 but is completely different in style. It’s perfect if you’re green-fingered and want to weave plants or flowers in between the 3-seater sofa and the armchairs, and overall, it appears simple but stylish. We recommend this set if you have children, entertain often or just need extra storage, because it comes with a rectangular coffee table that practically doubles up as storage space. This furniture is built from resin, meaning it’s hard-wearing, long-lasting, and UV resistant. The padded cushions ensure comfortability, whilst the taupe colour is elegant and sits well within a natural setting. The armchairs can be moved from place to place around your outdoor area, and the set’s removable cushions can be safely stowed away or popped in the washing machine when needed.

The Copenhagen Corner Set epitomises luxurious living. With a handwoven rattan structure, it sits upon tapered wooden legs and is completed with thick handmade cushions. Its washed-out colour comprises silvery grey tones and recalls white sandy beaches and pale blue seas. The opulent granite table exudes luxury, and the use of pale colours and natural materials makes it feel minimalist and Scandinavian. However, substance is not compromised for style with the Copenhagen Set, as the carefully selected materials will withstand the elements and therefore ensure durability against harsh weather conditions. Whether you picture yourself this Spring/Summer sitting chatting with your loved ones, or lounging around on a hazy day, the Copenhagen Corner Set will accommodate and impress.

The past year has made us realise how wonderful our gardens are as they became a place of escape and deep relaxation. If you’re looking to share your garden when the rule of six comes back into play, then enjoy our furniture recommendations to refresh and revitalise any outdoor space.
