Klarna Payment Plans

Part 1: How it works 

Shop now. Pay later with Klarna. We’re excited to announce we have partnered with Klarna to bring you new ways to pay at checkout. 

Here’s how it works: 

Step 1 Add products to your cart and select “Klarna” when you check out  
Step 2 Enter a few personal details and you’ll know instantly if you’re approved 
Step 3 Klarna will send you an email confirmation and reminders when it’s time to pay and you can manage your orders and payments in the Klarna app.   

Part 2: Payments information 

Pay in 3 interest-free* instalments  

Spread the cost of your purchase into 3 interest-free instalments. The first payment is made at point of purchase, with remaining installments scheduled automatically every 30 days. No interest or fees when you pay on time. Select the Klarna option and enter your debit or credit card information. To check your eligibility, Klarna will perform a soft search with a credit reference agency. This will not affect your credit score. 

*Please note: Klarna have introduced late fees for Pay in 3 or Pay in 30 Day purchases made on or after 16h March 2023. Customers will only be charged late fees if they have failed to pay after they have received multiple friendly reminders to encourage repayment, and after the set grace period has passed. More details on the fees’ structure will be outlined in Klarna's customer T&Cs.

 - A new way to pay that's an alternative to a credit card.  
- 3 instalments gives you flexibility to shop without interest or hidden fees, as long as you pay on time. 
 - Not making your payment on time could affect your ability to use Klarna in the future.  
 - Debt collection agencies are used as a last resort.

How do I pay with Klarna?

Your payments are automatically withdrawn from your connected card or bank account according to the agreed payment schedule, but you can make early payments anytime you wish. 

To make a manual payment:

  1. Go to My Klarna
  2. Tap Payments and navigate between the purchase/statement you would like to pay
  3. Tap Payment options and follow the instructions

Good to know:

  • Prepaid cards are not accepted. We accept all other major debit and credit cards
  • You can’t cancel a payment while the payment is processing
  • When paying your Financing statement be sure to pay the interest-saver amount to maintain the promotional terms of your Financing purchases

Haven’t set up automatic payments for Financing yet? 

To guarantee you never miss a payment connect a direct debit mandate to your bank account so payments will be withdrawn automatically on the same day every month:

  1. Go to My Klarna
  2. Navigate to Payment methods and tap Connect a bank account
  3. Enter your bank details and complete the steps to link your direct debit mandate then toggle Autopay on

What happens if I don’t pay for my order?

We recommend to use Klarna payment services within your means and ensure that you can make your repayments on time by the due date. Klarna will also ensure you can afford to repay your purchase made with our payment options by assessing your eligibility each time you use our service.

Klarna have introduced late fees for Pay in 3 or Pay in 30 Day purchases made on or after 16h March 2023. Customers will only be charged late fees if they have failed to pay after they have received multiple friendly reminders to encourage repayment, and after the set grace period has passed. More details on the fees’ structure will be outlined in Klarna's customer T&Cs.

If you do not pay for your order on time by the due date, you shall no longer be able to access Klarna’s payment options for future purchases. For purchases where payments are frequently missed, Klarna may use debt collection agencies to recover your outstanding balance. Additionally, for our Financing payment options Klarna reports missed and late payments to credit reference agencies which may negatively impact your ability to obtain credit in the future.

Good to know: For our Pay in 3 instalments and Pay in 30 days products, you may be eligible to snooze your payment due date for a interest and fee-free 10 days.

To check if you’re eligible, log into the Klarna app or click here and follow these steps:

  1. Select your purchase from the ‘Purchases’ section of the MyKlarna tab
  2. Select ‘Payment options’ from within your purchase and if eligible, you can ‘Snooze’ your purchase
  3. This will give you 10 more days to repay Klarna for your purchase

What happens if I request a payment holiday?

For our Pay in 3 instalments and Pay in 30 days payment options, your order is paused for 30 days. If you have shopped with our Financing payment option, your order is paused for 90 days. During this period you will still be able to pay any amount if you wish to do so. If placed on a COVID-19 payment holiday for one of our Financing payment options, this will not be reported to the credit bureaus and not impact your credit score. This will be made clear to you when agreeing to the payment holiday.

If placed on a standard payment holiday for one of our Financing payment options, we are obliged to report the status of your account to the credit bureaus on a monthly basis. This will be reported as an arrangement and may have an impact on your credit score. Once your payment holiday has finished this status will automatically be updated with the credit bureaus the following month. After the payment holiday ends your payment schedule will resume automatically or you can contact us again for further support. You can also contact us anytime during the payment holiday if you wish to end it and resume your payment schedule.

How long do refunds take?

Your refund will be processed within 5-7 business days. Once the store has registered your return or cancellation, you will receive your refund according to the store’s refund policy. Log in to view the status of your latest return or cancellation.

Good to know: Refunds are processed in different ways, depending on how much you have paid and if the store has processed a full or partial refund. Heads up, according to most store’s T&Cs express shipping fees are not refundable.

Pay in 3 
Refunds are processed in different ways, depending on the status of your payment schedule, how much you have paid and if the store has processed a full or partial refund.

  • Full refund
    Once the refund is registered against your order, any remaining payments will be cancelled and the already paid amount will be refunded to the original payment method.
  • Partial refund
    If the partial refund is greater than the remaining balance of your order, the refund amount will be deducted from the outstanding balance and the difference will be credited to the original payment method.
    If the partial refund is less than the remaining balance of your order, the amount will be deducted from the outstanding balance and spread evenly across the remaining payments. You can view any updates to your payment plan in our app.

Pay in 30 days
You’ll receive an email with updated payment information and payment updates in My Klarna.

Financing
If the total amount owed is greater than the refund, the refund will be deducted from the total balance of your financing account. If the total amount owed is less than the refund, the refund will be available as a positive balance in your Klarna account, allowing you to purchase again using your account at any participating online stores. Contact Customer Service to complete a refund form should you instead want the refund credited to your bank account.

Still waiting for your refund?
Depending on your financial institution, it can take up to 14 days for the funds to show in your account. To check the status of your refund first ensure the store updated your payment plan accordingly, then check the refund against your original payment method.

If after 14 days you have not received a refund, or your original form of payment is associated with a now closed bank account or credit card, please chat with our Customer Service. If your payment plan has not yet been adjusted by the store, please contact the store directly to confirm your return or order cancellation.

Does Klarna perform a credit check and will this affect my credit score?

As a responsible lender, we want to make sure we’re helping our customers make the right financial decisions for their circumstances. When a credit check is performed, we verify your identity using the details you provided and we look at information from your credit report to understand your financial behaviour and evaluate your creditworthiness.

Depending on the payment method or service you choose, we may perform different types of searches to check your financial standing. You can find an overview of the credit checks we run for our payment options and services and whether they impact your credit score below.

Using Klarna will not affect your credit score when:

For the above mentioned, we will perform a credit check will not be visible to other lenders and therefore won’t impact your credit score in any way.

Using Klarna might affect your credit score when:

  • Applying for one of our Financing options.
  • Taking out a standard payment holiday for our Financing options.

If you decide to use Financing, we might perform a credit check with credit reference agencies to complete your credit assessment. This credit check will show up as an inquiry on your credit report, will be visible to other lenders and might impact your credit score.

Our third party credit checks are performed by Transunion & Experian. If you have any questions regarding their services, your credit score or the data provided as part of a credit check we advise you to reach out to them directly.
